Diamond Carat
Diamond carat is often misunderstood, it actually refers to a diamond’s weight, not its size. Consider both the cut and carat – as a larger carat with poor cut grade can appear smaller; compared to a smaller diamond with higher cut grade.
Diamonds are priced according to weight categories. The larger the stone, the more expensive – reflecting its increase in natural rarity. A five-carat diamonds costs fifteen times that of a one-carat while a one-carat costs approximately four times more than a half-carat.
*To maximize your budget, “Buy Shy”. This means to select a carat weight slightly below the whole and half carat marks. For example, instead of a 2.0-carat diamond, consider buying a 1.9-carat weight. This saves you a significant amount of money, and the slight size difference will never be noticed!
