Diamond Color
The highest quality diamonds are colorless, while those of lower quality may be pale yellow colour.
The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) grades diamond color on a scale of D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). D-Z diamonds are known as white diamonds, even though most diamonds, including H- and G color diamonds, have varying amounts of color.
While there are colour differences between D, E, and F diamonds, they can be detected only by a gemologist in side by side comparisons.
In G and H color diamonds, the very slight warm and light yellow tone is difficult to detect unless compared side-by-side with diamonds of better grades.
Diamonds in the I-K color range have a visible yellow or brown tint, but are much less expensive than higher grades.
L color diamonds have a warm tint that are visible to the naked eye. L color diamonds are usually half the price of G color diamonds – we do not carry L-Z colour diamonds.
